There are 3 main types of leak detection:

1.Gas Leak Detection.
Gas leak detection is one of the most accurate forms of leak detection where by a gas called tracer gas is pumped into the water reticulation system of the property and pushes out of the hole in the pipe to the surface and a snooper traces it out.

2. Acoustic Leak detection
Acoustic leak detection is another non invasive way of finding a leak: It locates leaks by characterising and differentiating leak sounds from those of normal water flow through the distribution system.

3. Thermal imaging leak detection.
Thermal imaging leak detection is another very efficient method of finding a leak. It uses a thermal camera that picks up differences in temperature in a certain area which therefore narrows down the area of a leak. Thermal imaging takes advantage of the fact that leaking water shows a different temperature than the environment.

4. Dye Testing.
Dye testing is usually conducted on waste lines, shower bases, baths and balconies whereby dye is poured into or over the affected area and we trace it out and inspect if it affects any areas.

Benefits of conducting a leak detection.

  1. Accurately pin point the leak.
  2. Prevent unnecessary damage.
